As the whole nation comes together to celebrate Malaysia's 58th Merdeka Day today, Google pays tribute by commemorating the occasion with what is considered the national drink, "teh tarik".
The internet giant uses the icon of two metal mugs, as is used at the ubiquitous mamak restaurants in preparing the popular drink for all times of the day, to represent the letters "o" in the name Google.
The other letters in the popular search engine's name is wrapped in the image of the national flag and colours.
The tribute is the latest of what is popularly known as a Google Doodle, which is a modified version of the Google logo on its search homepage, reminding surfers of important dates. It is often customised for its country specific homepages.
Last year, Google also celebrated Merdeka with a doodle featuring a combination of decorated petals of the hibiscus, Malaysia's national flower, which beautifully formed the word Google. – August 31, 2015.
