ESTORIL, Portugal – The Malaysian under-13 squad who are fresh from winning the IberCup Costa del Sol in Spain, have opened their campaign in the Estoril edition of the IberCup with two impressive wins.
The youngsters played two matches in Group B at the Jamor Sports Complex here yesterday, registering wins on both outings.
In the earlier match against Segeltorps IF from Sweden, they won with a score of 2-1 courtesy of goals from Fahmi Daniel on 37 minutes and Naven Kanan on 47 minutes.
The second match played saw Malaysia thrash Portugese side Dragon Force Lisboa 7-0 with a hatrick from Daniel Amali, and a goal each from Arif Aiman, Amran Abd Jamil, Haikal Alif, and Ikhwan Hafizo.
The two consecutive wins have guaranteed the team a spot in the quarter-finals, despite having one more game to play today against another Portugese side, SC Linda-a-Velha
