KUALA LUMPUR: Show cause letters will be issued to the 46 civil servants investigated over wastages exposed in the latest series of the Auditor-General’s Report 2013.
Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal said the department was in the process of taking action against the officers identified in the third series of the report .
“We are still at an early stage in taking action on them.
“When we come up with the show cause letters and bring them to the disciplinary board, they will have to answer to their wrongdoings,” he told reporters after launching the PSD’s Patriotism Carnival at Bukit Kiara here on Friday.
On whether such civil servants will be sacked, Mohamad Zabidi said it depended on the severity of the offence.
It was reported that Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa had said 46 civil servants were being investigated over wastage found in the most recent Auditor-General’s report, which was disclosed on Monday.
The 46 were found to have come from five out of 20 “punitive reprimands” (or cases), meaning that power abuse and misconduct might have been a factor in the wastage.
