KUALA LUMPUR: Mayor of London Boris Johnson (pic) will ride on the express rail link (ERL) and the light rail transit (LRT) to get a first-hand experience of the public transportation system in Kuala Lumpur.
In a statement here, British High Commissioner to Malaysia Victoria Treadell said on arrival at the KL International Airport on Sunday, Johnson would hop onto the ERL to travel to the city.
He will be on a three-day visit to Kuala Lumpur.
During his visit, Johnson will meet his Kuala Lumpur counterpart Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib and go on a walkabout with him around the city before taking the LRT.
The visiting mayor is also expected to make a visit to a British educational institution and have meetings with leading Malaysian corporations.
Johnson will also deliver a key- note address at the Khazanah Global Lecture.
“We are seeing unprecedented Malaysian investment in the UK, not least the Battersea Power Station project,” said Treadell.
“This is an excellent example of an interesting economic partnership.
“The Mayor’s visit will showcase Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia more widely as an attractive investment location for London companies,” she added.
Johnson will be accompanied by a delegation of representatives from London businesses.
The visit is part of his South-East Asian tour, which includes Jakarta and Singapore.
