SUNGAI PETANI: A retired health officer and his wife were found murdered at their home in Taman Desa Bidara in Kuala Ketil, Baling, near here.
Mohamad Zahari Yahya, 66, and Salmah Husin, 61, a retired nurse, had deep slash wounds on their necks and bodies.
Zahari was found lying face down in the hall while Salmah’s body was in the kitchen.
It was learnt that their adopted son, who is in his 20s, stumbled on the bodies around noon yesterday when he went home for lunch from a nearby factory.
The bodies have been sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for post-mortem.
No report had been lodged on missing belongings from the home.
When contacted, Kedah CID chief Asst Comm Mohd Nashir Ya confirmed the incident, adding that the wounds were caused by a sharp weapon. He is expected to hold a press conference on the case today.
In Alor Setar, the body of a foreigner, believed to be a Myanmar national in his 20s, was found wrapped in a blanket by the roadside of Kampung Tebengau in Kuala Kedah at about 9am yesterday.
Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Adzaman Mohd Jan said no document was found on the body.
“We have not found any crime element in this case yet, and we believe the man has been dead for over 24 hours. The case has been classified as sudden death pending a forensics report,” he said.
The body has been sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for post-mortem.
On Nov 2, a man believed to be a Myanmar national was also found dead, covered with a blanket, behind a business complex in Jalan Batas Paip, Kuala Kedah, with bruises on his body.
