PETALING JAYA: A 58-year-old rabid road-bully who smashed up the car of a woman motorist yesterday was detained by police at his residence in Subang Jaya around midnight, said Subang Jaya deputy district police chief Superintendent Tan Ah Chua.
The motorist, who didn’t like being honked at by a woman driver behind him for recklessly switching lanes, took out his frustrations on her by wrecking her car and spitting on her windscreen.
In the incident, which was posted on Facebook and which went viral, the male motorist stopped his SUV in the middle of the road, got out of his vehicle and banged on Alisia Thean’s car window, besides spitting on her windscreen and damaging the wiper and side mirror of her car.
In her posting, which garnered 5,000 shares and over 1,000 comments, Thean wrote that she honked at the SUV driver in front of her, who had a woman passenger with him, because he was repeatedly switching lanes in a reckless manner.
She added that after stopping his vehicle abruptly in front of hers, “He banged on my window, asked me what I wanted, spat on the windscreen, damaged my wiper and bent my side mirror.”
The posting was accompanied by 15 photos of the man committing the alleged acts, with pictures of him and his SUV clearly displayed.
Thean also informed Facebook users who left comments, that she had reported the incident to the police, who themselves confirmed that it was a clear act of road bullying.
This follows the Kuantan road-bully incident earlier this year where a screaming woman whose car was rear-ended, called the man responsible for doing it ‘very stupid’. She also hurled racist remarks at him and took a steering lock to his vehicle while demanding he pay RM2,000 in compensation for the damage to her car.
The elderly man remained calm despite the woman’s outburst and offered to pay the damages, repeating that the accident was unintentional.
