Vigilante citizens bash up alleged snatch thief

PETALING JAYA: A video showing a group of vigilante citizens beating up a snatch thief and the latter begging to be sent to the police station is going viral on social media.
The two-part video, uploaded on the Malaysian Crime Awareness Campaign’s Facebook page, showed a young man who allegedly stabbed a woman in the face being beaten up and questioned by a group of men.
“How old are you? How long have you been doing this (snatching)?” voices were heard in the video asking the young man.
According to the description on the Facebook page, the incident took place near the Duke Highway.
The young man was dragged towards the alleged victim, where the men continued to beat him up and the alleged thief's hands were tied behind his back.
“Look at what you have done,” one of the men said, following the statement with a kick to the alleged offender's head.
Blood was seen on the head and face of the young man, who begged to be sent to the police station.
“Hantar saya ke balai, bang (Send me to the police station, brother),” he was heard saying repeatedly.
Netizens who responded to the video had no sympathy for the young men and reportedly condoned the actions of those involved.
