SERDANG: An African man was shot dead after exchanging fire with a police team in an incident at a residence in Bandar Puchong Jaya, here, last night.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the incident at 10.50pm happened when the suspect did not cooperate.
"A team of JSJ officers and members who received information based on intelligence went to the location of the residential unit on the ninth floor near the KLH Tower to arrest the suspect.
"The suspect attacked the policemen by firing two shots forcing the police to fire back," he said.
He said, the inspection found two machete blades, some fake registration numbers, a bag containing fake money.
Mohd Shuhaily said, in total, two members of the criminal group had been shot dead while three other men were arrested.
He said that the information about the suspect was obtained after receiving a report of a robbery incident involving a Japanese man who was tricked into a fake transaction organized by a group of suspects, last August 25.
"The incident took place in Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur where the victim suffered a loss of ASD 30,000 (equivalent to RM130,000)," he said.
