Gold Shop Armed Robbery, Police hunting for 4 men

PUTRAJAYA - Police are hunting four men who committed an armed robbery at a gold shop in a supermarket in Kota Warisan, last night.

Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said, the incident happened at about 8.14 that night, three suspects entered the premises while another suspect was waiting in the car while the others committed the robbery.

"The car was parked at the back of the supermarket before the suspect entered through a fast food restaurant on the side of the supermarket building.

"The suspect then stormed into the gold shop while pointing a gun before removing the gold from the display cabinet.

"All the suspects were wearing helmets, gloves, jackets and dark pants when committing the robbery," he said in a statement here today.

Wan Kamarul Azran said that all of them only needed two minutes to commit the robbery before leaving the area.

"No shots were fired by the suspect in this incident," he said.

He explained that the stolen jewelery involved necklaces and bracelets of various sizes and weights with the estimated loss still under investigation.

He added that the case was investigated under Section 895/397 of the Penal Code which carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years and whipping.
