SHAH ALAM: Tourism Malaysia announced the appointment of former Director of Tourism Malaysia India, Manoharan Periasamy as the new Director General of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board.

He previously served as Senior Director of International Promotion (Asia and Africa) at Tourism Malaysia.

Manoharan is also understood to have served three consecutive terms as Tourism Malaysia's Director for India, and was instrumental in establishing the first National Tourism Organization office in Mumbai in 2001.

On Friday, Sinar Harian reported the statement of the former Director General of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board, Datuk Dr Ammar Abd Ghapar who expressed his disappointment when his 36 years of service in the tourism industry was terminated.

According to Ammar, as a government employee who has served for a long time, he always performs his duties according to the correct procedures and procedures.

On Saturday, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing explained why Ammar was demoted from the position of Director General of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board, for failing to achieve the specified work performance.

King Sing said, many opportunities have been given to Ammar since he has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in tourism.
