KUALA LUMPUR: Three policemen believed to be from the Central Brigade General Operations Team were arrested after they were suspected of stealing money amounting to RM85,000 from a business premises while carrying out an integrated operation in Jalan Silang, last Thursday.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said the three members aged 26, 30 and 35 were remanded for four days starting yesterday to assist in the investigation under Section 380 of the Penal Code.
"At 12.36 midnight last Friday, the police received a report about the loss of cash amounting to RM85,000 at a business premises in Lebuh Pudu here, during a concerted operation against foreigners carried out by the authorities.
"This case is still under investigation and the public is asked not to make any speculations that could interfere with the investigation and cause public annoyance," he said in a statement here today.
Bernama understood that the three members involved were recorded searching the premises by a closed circuit camera (CCTV) installed, however they did not include it in the report.
As a result of the arrest, it is understood that the police also confiscated RM63,500 in cash, a Perodua Myvi car, two mobile phones and payment receipts for the purchase of tires and vehicle maintenance.
