KUALA LUMPUR: Almost two months on, Nadia Fasha Qistina, 19, is eight surgeries in and still in pain from an acid attack on her way home from work last month.
Her father, Azman Shah Mohammad, 43, has spent almost his entire savings to pay for life saving treatment and corrective surgeries.
"It has been almost two months since my child received treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital and has undergone eight surgeries to repair skin tissue and save her eyes," said Azman.
Nadia suffered severe injuries after being attacked with acid while returning from work in Denai Alam on Nov 8.
At the time of the incident, her father said, Nadia had only been working for six days at a clinic there, and was attacked by a man posing as an e-hailing driver who later fled the scene.
"The incident caused my child to suffer severe injuries to the face, body, and legs, requiring eight surgeries. The cost of a piece of skin tissue reaches RM4,000, and I have already paid RM32,000 to buy eight pieces of skin tissue," he added.
Azman, who only works as a burger seller, said that every week, he also has to pay RM1,600 to buy Bactigras, an antiseptic dressing for her healing burns and all of these expenses need to be borne personally.
"Until now, I have spent all my savings.
"The doctor also informed me that my daughter might have to stay in this hospital for a year and needs to rely on medication for the rest of her life," he said.
He mentioned that his wife also fell ill and experienced panic attacks after the incident and is also being treated in the same hospital.
"I sincerely hope the police can apprehend the perpetrator soon, as I understand the suspect was hired by someone.
"My daughter had only been working for six days, so she has not contributed to Perkeso and does not have personal protection insurance," he said.
In this regard, those who want to help this family financially for their child's medical expenses can donate to RHB bank account 16452600039344 in the name of Azman.
