PUTRAJAYA: The Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) Open Championship 2023 Level III Shooting Tournament received the recognition of 'the most participants in a shooting tournament' from The Malaysian Book of Records (MBOR) with the participation of 787 people.

The certificate of recognition was handed over to Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani by MBOR Chief Operating Officer Christopher Wong during the RMP Open Championship 2023 Appreciation Ceremony here last night.

Also present were Deputy Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs Datuk Ruji Ubi.

The tournament, which lasted for seven days starting May 1 at the Shapadu Target Shooting Club here, was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The tournament was also attended by foreign participants including from Indonesia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hong Kong, Singapore and the Philippines.

Acryl Sani in his speech said the recognition was very meaningful for the PDRM thus helping to promote Malaysia as a tourist destination that provides well-equipped facilities for international shooting tournaments.

"It is my great hope that Malaysia will be given the opportunity to host the Level V competition which is the World Shoot which is the highest level in this IPSC tournament, which will also boost the country's tourism industry," he said. - BERNAMA
