PERMATANG PAUH: The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, challenged any party that claims to have enough support or numbers to topple the Unity Government led by him, to prove it at the Parliament session to be held at the end of this month.

According to the Tambun Member of Parliament, he is not like the previous Prime Minister who was 'afraid' to face the issue of the government's legitimacy to the extent that he was willing to declare an Emergency Proclamation and postpone the Parliament session.

"If it is true that there are numbers, don't be delusional, don't confuse the people, find members of Parliament who support them, bring motions and I won't shy away from motions for a vote of confidence or no confidence if there is one.

"I'm not the type of leader we used to go through, who chose to run away from that statement (regarding legitimacy), (even) declaring an emergency, postponing the Parliament session.

"So we will hold a parliamentary session within these two weeks, if there are numbers to bring, and I will face the person who brought the motion in the parliamentary session," he said.

Anwar said this when delivering the Aidilfitri Mandate in conjunction with the Penang State Level Madani Malaysia Aidilfitri Open House with the Prime Minister, at UiTM Permatang Pauh, on Saturday.

Accordingly, he stated that, with such a statement, he can shut down all the arising issues that are seen as damaging and destabilizing the existing government.

Anwar emphatically also reminded that motions related to the legitimacy of his administration if brought up in the next session will be the 'last episode' and will no longer be raised after this.

It is to ensure that attention can be focused on the plan to develop the country, especially through the improving economic position at the moment.

He also warned that action will be taken after this without any tolerance if there is sabotage related to the issue of legitimacy.
