KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 – Two traffic policemen were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday for allegedly asking for a bribe from an individual who had been issued with a warrant of arrest.
Putrajaya MACC director Hasbillah Mohamad Salleh said the two policemen, with the rank of lance corporal and aged 27 and 30, were arrested at the Putrajaya MACC office at about 11 am.
"They are suspected of asking for RM3,000 from an individual against whom there is a warrant of arrest for an old offence.
"They asked for the money as an inducement for not taking action against the suspect,” he told Bernama today.
The two suspects were released on an MACC bail yesterday.
