IPOH, Sept 29 -- Police are looking for a man for suspected armed robbery after a botched hold-up outside a bank in Batu Gajah today.
Batu Gajah District Police chief ACP Ahmad Adnan Basri said that in the 3.40 pm incident, two security company personnel were heading for their van after withdrawing RM200,000 from a cash deposit machine when a man wearing a blue face mask rushed towards them and held them up with an object resembling a pistol.
He said in a statement that the suspect pointed the "pistol” at the armed security guard and demanded the security technician, who was carrying the money, to hand it over to him.
However, the technician ran into the van that was waiting for them while the suspect panicked and fled towards the back of the bank premises.
