KUALA LUMPUR, September 26 -- A total of 115 individuals were detained for flouting the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) yesterday, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said that of the total, 111 individuals were issued with compounds while four others were remanded.

Among the offences committed were having failed to observe physical distancing, involving 35 individuals, while another 31 were caught leaving the house without reasonable excuse in the areas placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

Other offences were possessing expired travel documents (26 individuals), failure to provide equipment/ record visitors’ particulars (17), premises operating beyond permitted hours (five) and failure to wear face mask (one), he said in a statement on the development of RMCO here today.

Meanwhile, he said, for ‘Ops Benteng’, 67 illegal immigrants were detained while two boats and five vehicles were seized in 98 roadblocks mounted yesterday.

On mandatory quarantine, Ismail Sabri said a total of 35,116 individuals had returned to Malaysia through the international entry points since July 24 until yesterday.

They were from 32 countries and were housed in 66 hotels, and nine other premises including the public training institution (ILA) as well as private higher education institutions nationwide, he said.

“Of the total, 7,903 individuals are undergoing mandatory quarantine, 103 individuals have been sent to hospitals for treatment while 27,110 individuals have been discharged and allowed to return home,” he said.

He added that since March 30 until yesterday, 10,107 public sanitation operations covering 135 zones were implemented involving 13,050 premises, including 2,715 business centres, 1,600 housing areas including the People's Housing Projects (PPRs), 2,623 public places, 354 supermarkets, and 5,758 government buildings.
