Cops Nab 15 in Kuala Langat for Cable Theft

KUALA LANGAT, Sept 25 -- Police on Wednesday detained 15 men, including four illegal immigrants, believed to be members of a gang who have been stealing Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) electrical cables in the district.
Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Azizan Tukiman said following four cable theft reports, police raided a store in Telok Panglima Garang here at 3.30 pm and found 4.5 tonnes of various types of TNB cables and tools believed to been used in group’s crime spree.
TNB is believed to have suffered losses amounting to about RM150,000 as a result of the thefts, he told reporters here today, adding that early investigations revealed that the local suspects are or had been TNB sub-contractors.
All those detained, aged between 17 and 50, have been placed under remand until Sunday, he said.
