BALIK PULAU, Aug 19 -- For intimidating and threatening to share nude pictures of a teenage girl, a man was sentenced to five years’ jail and fined RM17,000 by the Magistrate's Court here today for committing criminal intimidation and possessing pornographic material.
Magistrate Khalijah Mohd Khalid sentenced G.Vieshnuu, 20, after he pleaded guilty to all the charges read out to him.
The court sentenced the accused to 19 months’ imprisonment and a fine of RM7,000, in default one year’s jail, for the first intimidation charge.
On the second count of intimidation, the unemployed man was sentenced to 20 months’ jail and fined RM5,000, in default 17 months’ jail; while on the third count for the offence of possessing and trying to disseminate obscene material the accused was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment and fined RM5,000, in default 18 months’ jail.
However, the court ordered the prison sentence to run concurrently, namely one year and nine months.
On the first count, Vieshnuu intimidated the victim’s elder sister R. Tavamani, 29, by threatening to share nude pictures of her 17-year-old sister (now deceased), at Platinum 111 Condominium, Changkat Bukit Belah 2, Teluk Kumbar here, at 10 am on Aug 3.
On the second count, he intimidated the victim’s mother M. Thaivana, 55, at the same place, day and time.
He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation .
On the third count, he was charged with possession of pornographic material in the form of videos and images related to the case of the girl, near the Padang Rengas police station, Kuala Kangsar, Perak, at 7 pm, on Aug. 4.
For this the accused was charged under Section 292 (a) of the Penal Code.
Deputy public prosecutor Rais Imran Hamid prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer Jeorge Sheak.
