PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasio­nal’s Sekinchan candidate Lee Yee Yuan says he does not know the source of a RM25,000 cash prize given out by Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos for a lucky draw.

Lee said he attended the concert on Monday where the Sungai Besar Umno division chief presented the cash as he was invited to introduce himself as the state seat candidate.

“After that, I continued campaigning and met with voters,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Lee said the same of a gathering of Barisan machinery at the Sungai Leman district voting centre, where Jamal reportedly gave RM50 each to the attendees.


On a personal level, Lee said he objected to bribery in elections.

“Jamal never taught us to campaign that way. My opponent is only trying to create controversy,” he said.

On Tuesday, Sekinchan DAP lodged a report alleging that Jamal offered the RM25,000 in return for votes.

In the same report, it alleged that Jamal committed another offence in a separate event, also on Monday, by promising fishermen here RM2,000 each if they voted for Lee.

The report was lodged on behalf of Sekinchan DAP candidate Ng Suee Lim by Bagan Sekinchan DAP committee member Kwi Ai Mei.
