JOHOR BARU: Four-time Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will give its Malaysia Cup prize win to Penang flood victims.
Club president Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim made the announcement, which is posted on the Southern Tigers Facebook page on Monday.
She said as decreed by Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, among the policies of JDT was to provide assistance and aid to the needy.
This included extending aid to the flood victims in Pahang and Kelantan, and earthquake victims in Sabah.
“We have provided aid to the state governments over the years and JDT will continue to do the same. JDT and its players have decided to give our Malaysia Cup prize money to the flood victims in Penang,” she said.
Besides giving financial assistance to victims, JDT also channelled funds to Brazilian football club Chapecoense FC after they lost the majority of their players in a fatal plane crash last year.
