Here in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, a woman had sneakily snatched some valuables from a handbag of one of the customers in a shopping mall in Jalan Imbi while everyone was out and about busy shopping.
The women's activity was recorded on closed-circuit television (CCTV). In the one minute and 27 seconds recording which had went viral on social media platforms, the woman was seen targeting customers carrying handbags, at a busy kiosk.
The victim, reportedly a Pan Asian woman, was trying on a cosmetics product by the kiosk when the woman approached her.
During the incident, there were nine women around the kiosk including workers. However, due to the chaos at the sight, the woman quickly slipped her hand into the victim's handbag, and grabbed some valuables which she then put into her tote bag before fleeing the scene.
Commenting on the incident, Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sukri Kaman said the police did not receive any reports thus far.
"I advise for the victim to make a report so we can investigate the matter. Customers at shopping malls must be more careful especially while carrying valuables while shopping," he reminded.
Following this incident, we hope all Malaysians will be more wary of their surroundings and keep a close watch over their belongings.
