KUALA LUMPUR: Heading towards the 2050 National Transformation (TN50), all aspects of development in the country must be sustainable and environmentally-friendly, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
He said it is the intention and aspiration of the country to put sustainable development as an important agenda.
“This is fitting, as we head towards a successful and developed country, in line with TN50.
“Seeing that we had experienced unpredictable weather conditions, it is becoming increasingly important that we implement environmentally-friendly concepts in the country's development,” he said at the launch of the Menara Kerja Raya, today.
Present were Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and deputy, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.
The 37-storey tower, completed on Apr 15, 2015, is the first government building to be platinum Green Building Index-certified.
Najib said the tower was also listed in Business Insider United Kingdom as one of the world’s top 10 best new buildings.
“This tower was designed by local expertise, producing an iconic skyscraper that will be one of the significant landmarks in our country,” he added.
