SUBANG JAYA: Acting on their instincts saw two policemen nab a suspected criminal during a normal inspection in Puchong.

The two rank-and-file policemen were on their patrol when they saw the suspect, in his 40s, driving in his car in Puchong Utama on Monday morning.

Acting on their instinct, the policemen stopped the car for an inspection.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohammad Azlin Sadari said the suspect got out of the car and was cooperative.

"But he became aggressive when the policemen wanted to perform a body check," ACP Azlin told a press conference Tuesday.

The gun found by police.

The suspect then turned around and pulled out a handgun from a concealed holster.

Luckily, one of the policemen managed to grab the suspect's hand while his colleague restrained him. One of the policemen, a lance corporal, was injured in the hand.

"Investigations showed that the suspect had five records, including one in Singapore for causing grievous hurt, and another for armed robbery in Petaling Jaya," ACP Azlin said.

He added that police found eight bullets in the gun, with one already in the chamber, a handcuff and over RM3,000 on the suspect.

ACP Azlin said the suspect told the police that he was a businessman and that possessed the gun for safety purposes.

The suspect failed to produce a licence for the firearm.

The suspect has been remanded from Tuesday and the case is being investigated for illegal possession of a firearm.

ACP Azlin said those who have information on the suspect should contact the police.
