LRT, MRT and Buses hours extended for New Year's Eve

Extended hours for rail and bus services

PETALING JAYA: Good news on New Year’s Eve for Klang Valley’s public transport commuters.

Services of selected light rail transit (LRT), mass rail transit (MRT), monorail and feeder bus services will be extended on Saturday evening until the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Prasarana Malaysia Bhd in a statement said the services would be extended at the selected LRT, MRT, monorail stations up until 2am on Sunday while MRT feeder buses and RapidKL buses plying certain routes will also be operating extra hours up to 2.30am (see graphic).

“We urge city residents to use public transport on the day to avoid getting stuck in traffic congestion especially in areas near where events and shows will be held to usher in the New Year,” Prasarana group communication and strategic marketing head Lim Jin Aun said in the statement.

During the extended operating hours, commuters can only board the LRT, MRT and monorail trains at the selected stations.

They can, however, exit their trains at all LRT, MRT, monorail and bus rapid transit (BRT) stations until 2am.

Staff will be in place in stations to help commuters who require assistance. Further information can also be found on MyRapidKL’s Facebook page, Twitter feed and at www.myrapid.com.my.
