PETALING JAYA: Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar granted a special audience to Harith Iskander, who last week won the title of world's funniest person.
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page, Harith, a Johorean, along with his wife, Dr Jezamine Lim Iskander, were invited to the Istana Pasir Pelangi on Monday to meet Sultan Ibrahim and Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
“Harith, accompanied by his wife Dr Jezamine Lim, proudly showed the trophy he was awarded at the competition in Finland on Dec 8,” read the post on Monday.
Harith later expressed his gratitude to Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Ismail in a post on his Instagram account.
“Tuanku and TMJ graciously took time to chat with us at length and also invited us to sit down for a meal together.
“As an 'Anak Johor' this is definitely one of the proudest moments in my life so far. Daulat Tuanku,” said Harith.
Harith had previously posted a tribute to his fans from Johor on Instagram after winning the Funniest Person in the World competition, ruffling some feathers.
He beat 88 other comedians from around the world in the competition organised by US comedy club chain Laugh Factory in Finland, winning himself a cash prize of US$100,000 and the opportunity to perform at shows in the United States.
