PETALING JAYA: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has taken action against one of its officers who was caught talking on a mobile phone while driving a patrol car.

This follows images that went viral on social media showing the officer holding his phone up to his ear in one hand while driving the Proton Waja on a highway went viral on social media.

“An immediate investigation was conducted and this department confirms the information is true,” JPJ said in a statement Friday.

It said the JPJ enforcement director issued a summons to the errant officer, who has also been transferred to a different section.

JPJ said it viewed the incident seriously and reminded its officers to always respect the law and to set an example for other road users.
