Court finds Isma president guilty of sedition
KAJANG: Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman (pic) has been fined RM2,000 after the Sessions Court here found him guilty of sedition.
The same court in May had acquitted him over his principal sedition charge of uttering seditious words, but ordered him to defend himself on an alternative charge under Section 4 (1)(c) of the Sedition Act 1948.
The alternative charge was for publishing an article entitled “The coming of the Chinese with the British colonialists a form of intrusion” on the Isma website two years ago.
The court ordered Abdullah Zaik to pay the fine or serve two years in prison if he failed to do so.
He was charged with committing the offence at Isma headquarters in Bangi on May 6, 2014.
Abdullah Zaik later told reporters that he accepted the court’s decision.
