Philippines Department of Tourism and Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur Launches Ambassador Tour To Bicol, Philippines

3RD AMBASSADOR’S TOUR TO THE PHILIPPINES LAUNCHED AT MITM FAIR

9 August 2016 – After the success of its 2013 and 2015 editions, the 3rd ”Ambassador’s Tour to the Philippines” was launched on August 5, 2016 at the MITM Travel Fair at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

The four days-three nights tour runs from November 18 to 21, 2016 and is being undertaken by Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

“I have accompanied Malaysian tourists to the Philippines twice—to Manila in November 2013 and to Cebu and Bohol in May last year. In November this year, it is with pride that I will bring some 100 Malaysian tourists to my home region in Bicol, where the majestic Mayon Volcano is located. The tour participants will have fun doing trekking and all terrain vehicle (ATV) adventures by the slopes of the volcano, have fun in the renowned Misibis Bay, as well as enjoy one of the Philippines’ best known cuisine which are often spiced with chilli and in creamy coconut milk, and should be appealing to Malaysians,” Ambassador J. Eduardo Malaya said during the travel fair’s press conference.

The Tour series was initiated in 2013 by the Embassy and the DOT to highlight the Malaysian people’s increasing interest in the Philippines and showcase the unique attractiveness of Philippine tourism destinations.

There were 112 Malaysians who participated in the 2013 Tour to Manila, which included visits to Villa Escudero in Quezon and the Taal Volcano in Batangas. In 2015, 121 participants enjoyed visits to historical sights and island hopping in Cebu and nature tripping in Bohol.

In December 2015, Malaysia was the Philippines’ eighth major tourist market, with 155,814 Malaysian tourists visiting the Philippines.

This year’s tour, dubbed Bicol Experience, will make participants experience the beauty of the Bicol Region, including trips to the Mayon Volcano, considered to be one of the world’s most scenic volcanoes, with a perfectly shaped cone structure, and frolic in the beaches at Misibis Bay, one of the upscale beach resorts in the Philippines.

Lunch will be at the Hacienda de Naga where people can relax and mingle in between activity choices.

The last day will be a free and leisure morning. Participants may go for abaca, pilinuts and souvenir shopping. After lunch, participants will go to Legazpi Airport for the flight back to Manila. Participants can take advantage of the lay-over in Manila to go shopping, entertainment and dining before they fly back to Kuala Lumpur in the evening.
