KUALA LUMPUR: A teenage couple sneaked out in the dark for a steamy time together, but ended up in the hot seat when three attackers torched their car.
The lovebirds, both 18, had parked in a secluded spot in Jalan Tembeling, overlooking Tasik Titiwangsa, here, around 5am on Wednesday.
However, their private time was cut short when three men showed up with machetes.
The boyfriend tried to escape by reversing the car, but in his haste, he stalled the vehicle when he drove it up a curb.
Fortunately, the couple managed to escape on foot.
The attackers then used their machetes to break the front windshield and window of the car before setting it on fire.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif (pic) said policemen on patrol spotted the incident and tried to chase after the culprits but lost them.
"With the help of the victims, we arrested two of the suspects and four others, all aged between 16 and 33, over the incident," he said at a press conference at the district police headquarters on Monday.
Police are looking for the third attacker.
Supt Mohamad Roy said one of the suspects, aged 19, wanted to take revenge against the boyfriend for allegedly damaging his mother's car.
When asked if he knew what the couple were doing when the armed men showed up, Supt Mohamad Roy said he would let everyone come to their own conclusions.
"But let's think positively. Maybe they were there for a jog, that is why they were able run away so quickly as they already had their running shoes on," he said.
