ALOR SETAR: The Education Department has terminated the service of the part-time religious teacher who injured three female students at a government religious boarding school in Baling by hurling a plastic chair at them.
State Education director Datuk Azuyah Hassan, on Wednesday, said the action was taken after the department held discussions with the principal of Sekolah Model Khas Baling and the Parent-Teacher Association.
“The teacher apologised to the students’ parents and both parties agreed to let the school handle the matter,” she said here yesterday.
Azuyah said the 48-year-old teacher had been with the school for 15 years.
In the 8pm incident on Monday, the teacher apparently got angry at the 13-year-old students – Siti Farhana Mohd Ayub, Irdina Safiyya Amran and Farrah Izzati Mohamad Rohaizat – and threw a plastic chair at them.
The warden of the boarding school took the students to the Baling Hospital the next morning.
Farrah Izzati sustained fractures on two fingers and was given a month’s medical leave. Siti Farhana suffered pain near her waist and Irdina Safiyya sustained a cut on her head.
Police detained the teacher who was later released on bail.
