Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) vice-president Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa said on Monday that Hanipa was referred to HKL by the National Heart Institute (IJN).
Earlier, the Amanah member was wheeled out of Parliament after he was found slumped against his seat by fellow lawmakers.
Hanipa complained that he felt nauseous and was unable to move.
"I wasn't there when the incident happened in Parliament but Hanipa was immediately rushed to IJN following the Parliament doctor’s advice.
"Now he is undergoing surgery related to neurology which I believe is caused by high blood pressure. It had led to some internal bleeding," said Mujahid.
He said the surgery would take at least two to three hours, adding that many Amanah members were waiting at the hospital.
