IGP: Rafizi arrested under OSA

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR lawmaker Rafizi Ramli (pix)was arrested in front of the Parliament gate here on Tuesday under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) and taken to the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman.

PKR lawmaker Rafizi Ramli (pic)will be held overnight at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Mortadza Nazarene said on Tuesday.
He said police would only apply for a remand order on the Pandan MP Wednesday.
"We are only applying for remand tomorrow. He is at Bukit Aman and he will be kept overnight and be investigated," he added.

Rafizi, who is a PKR vice-president, was arrested in front of the Parliament gate here on Tuesday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar tweeted that Rafizi was arrested under the OSA, but did not provide further details.
"@PDRMsia sahkan bahawa YB Rafizi Ramli telah ditahan sebentar tadi, di luar bangunan Parlimen dan akan disiasat di bawah Sect 8 OSA (police confirm that Rafizi Ramli was just arrested outside the Parliament building and will be investigated under Section 8 of the OSA)," said Khalid.
PKR's Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tsin confirmed that the PKR vice-president was brought to Bukit Aman.
PKR's R. Sivarasa said the party was just informed of the news.
"We will need to get in touch with the police and find out what happened.
"We need to know if they are going to hold him overnight, which I think they would because the arrest occurred after 6pm," the Subang MP said.
Kuala Terengganu MP Raja Kamarul Bahrin, who witnessed the arrest, said he saw a large number of police officers in Parliament.
"There were about two or three police cars and about 15 officers who came to arrest him.
"I was behind his (Rafizi's) car. I got down from my car to ask what was happening.
"Rafizi was not allowed to speak, and when I questioned the officers, they did not entertain me," he said.
On March 28, Rafizi revealed details from what he claimed was an excerpt of the Attorney-General's report on 1MDB proving that the Government investment arm was partly to blame for delays in the Armed Forces Fund Board's (LTAT) gratuity payments.
