ANUAR and Julia courted for eight years before finding out that they are forbidden from marrying each other because they are “breast milk siblings”, reported Harian Metro.
Islam regards those who shared breast milk from the same source as “siblings” and they cannot marry each other even if they are not biologically related.
Anuar said they only found out that they had shared the same breast milk when their parents met. That was when Julia’s mother realised she had breast-fed Anuar when he was a baby.
Anuar and Julia’s parents were neighbours before his family moved to Kuala Lumpur more than two decades ago.
Anuar and Julia met and fell in love while studying at university without realising that they were neighbours when they were babies.
Anuar said although it was very frustrating, he had to let go.
> The tabloid also reported that a woman by the name of Ros who earned RM5,000 a month selling breastmilk.
She was reported to be able to produce 200 bottles of milk each month.
The report stated that she had eight children sharing her breastmilk over the last three years, while many others bought breastmilk from her whenever needed.
