Shafie, Mukhriz say will ‘criticise from within’

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno vice president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and former Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir will not quit the party.

“I’m still a member. I’m still a vice president of Umno,” Shafie told the media after suspended Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced in a press conference that he would remain in the party.

“There is no question of us wanting to topple any individual, but we want proper enforcement of law,” said Shafie on Wednesday.

Mukhriz said he was at the press conference because he had the same stand as Muhyiddin.

“I will remain in Umno and be a critic from within,” he said.
