Leicester 2-0 Liverpool
A Jamie Vardy-inspired Leicester continued to top the Premier League table after a convincing win over Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.
After an exciting, attacking, end-to-end first half which provided no goals, Vardy made up for it with a fantastic hit on the hour mark, in front of England boss Roy Hodgson.
Leicester punted the ball over the top for the England man to chase and Vardy waited for it to bounce once before smashing a looping volley over Simon Mignolet and into the top corner.
And Vardy doubled the lead ten minutes later with a real poacher’s finish after Shinji Okazaki’s blocked shot fell into his path and he lashed the ball home with his left foot.
Norwich 0-3 Tottenham
Tottenham boosted their top four hopes further with a 3-0 victory at Norwich.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men go third and above local rivals Arsenal on goal difference.
Dele Alli put the visitors ahead inside two minutes when Christian Eriksen’s shot was parried by Canaries goalkeeper Declan Rudd and the England youngster was there to tap home from close range.
Alli was all set to net another when he followed up Harry Kane’s shot, before he was fouled by Sebastian Bassong.
Kane coolly converted the resulting spot-kick to double Spurs’ lead after half an hour. The England marksman doubled his tally and sealed the win in the final minute as Eriksen won possession and gave it to the England striker to fire home.
Manchester United 3-0 Stoke
Manchester United returned to their entertaining ways at Old Trafford as they beat Stoke 3-0.
Louis van Gaal’s men have struggled to score at home this season but they were two up at half-time, with thanks to Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial.
Lingard put the home side 1-0 up with just 14 minutes on the clock as he headed home Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s low cross.
Martial looked dangerous and lively and he added a second with a superb curling effort to beat Jack Butland.
Wayne Rooney had a goal harshly disallowed in the second half as he shoulder barged Glen Johnson before finishing well and the foul was awarded.
The Manchester United and England captain was soon on the score sheet though, tapping home a good team goal for his seventh goal in as many games.
West Ham 2-0 Aston Villa
After a miserable January transfer window, Aston Villa kicked off February in the Premier League with a 2-0 defeat at West Ham.
Remi Garde failed to add any additions to the ranks at Villa Park and the French boss is reportedly considering his position. This match will not help the cause and neither did Jordan Ayew, who was sent off early in the game, the striker clearly elbowing Aaron Cresswell.
Michail Antonio headed the home side into the lead early in the second half before Cheikhou Kouyate fired high into the roof of the net with minutes remaining.
The Villans remain rooted to the bottom, six points behind 19th-placed Sunderland.
Sunderland 0-1 Manchester City
Manchester City held off a strong second-half performance by Sunderland to leave the Stadium of Light 1-0 winners.
Just a day after it was announced that Pep Guardiola will be replacing Manuel Pellegrini in the summer, the Citizens kept their cool as they stay three points behind leaders Leicester.
City have slipped up against Sunderland in previous years but Sergio Ageuro soon but any nerves on ice as he put the Black Cats in front with a neat finish. With 16 minutes on the clock, the Argentinian controlled Jesus Navas’ cross in the box and, with the outside of his boot, he finished across goal.
New boy Lamine Kone nearly drew the home side level as he headed past the post and Joe Hart made a stunning save to deny Jermain Defoe before the interval.
Sam Allardyce’s men put on an impressive show in the second half but they could not find an opening.
Crystal Palace 1-2 Bournemouth
Bournemouth moved seven points clear of the relegation zone with a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace.
Scott Dann put the Eagles ahead with a neat finish before Marc Pugh, who scored in the FA Cup at the weekend, drew the Cherries level just seven minutes later.
January addition Benik Afobe - from Wolves - scored the all important goal shortly before the hour, heading home after Wayne Hennessey had parried.
West Brom 1-1 Swansea
West Brom scored late on to rescue a point at home to Swansea City.
Gylfi Sigurdsson finished well at the far post after 64 minutes and it looked like Francesco Guidolin’s men were heading for back-to-back victories before the Baggies’ late equaliser.
With two minutes of added time played, Salomon Rondon managed to divert the ball home following a corner.
The point leaves Tony Pulis’ side 13th, while Swansea are 16th.
Arsenal 0-0 Southampton
Arsenal were booed off at the Emirates after failing to break down a stubborn Southampton side.
Olivier Giroud had a number of efforts on the Saints goal but Fraser Forster was brilliant on the night.
His best moment came when Mesut Ozil poked a toe at Giroud’s knockdown header but the Englishman reacted fantastically to keep the Gunners at bay.
The result means Arsene Wenger’s men drop to fourth in the table, behind rivals Tottenham and only five points ahead of Manchester United in fifth.
