Najib: Wife determines elected rep's success

IPOH: Wives of elected representatives play a vital role in determining their success, acting as a giver of spiritual care, support and encouragement, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"As wives, they take care of us and our families. They're our penghibur (entertainers) and our companions.
"Only then, we can be effective and likeable Barisan Nasional leaders," he said, jokingly adding that because of the wives' contributions, it would be wise to consider granting the requests they make.
Najib was delivering his speech at the Barison Nasional Wives of Elected Representatives Annual Programme dinner here on Saturday.

Bernama quoted Najib as saying that with a sense of belonging and togetherness, "there is no reason we cannot face all the challenges ahead and this is what I stress as team work between an elected representative and wife."
"This is very important for us because if our wives play their role like this, it means that our heads are calm and not frayed.
"If our wives started acting up, our heads are frayed and we cannot become good leaders or elected representatives," he said.
Najib congratulated the Sabah contingent for winning the overall champion title for the 12th consecutive year.
It was organised by Perak Association of State Assemblymen's Wives (Baiduri).
Najib takes time off to watch Bakti tourney

IPOH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took time off to watch badminton and bowling finals at an event organised by Bakti, the organisation comprising wives of Barisan Nasional elected representatives.
A total of 536 participants from 14 states attended the five-day annual tournament. In the badminton finals, Bakti (Federal Territories) and Bakisa (Sabah) battled it out for two hours. The final’s first tie was in favour of Bakti with the Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and wife of Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Datin Seri Lee Sun Loo. They won 15-1 and 15-0, defeating Bakisa’s Datin Noraini Salleh and Puan Seri Genevieve Kitingan.
However, Bakisa took the next three doubles to put the score at 3-1 in its favour.
Baiduri (Perak) was the overall winner of tenpin bowling.
Najib, accompanied by his wife, who is also Bakti president, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir presented the challenge trophy to the winners during a ceremony held at Kolej Sains Kesihatan Bersekutu Sultan Azlan Shah in Tanjung Rambutan.
