High Court lifts suspension against The Edge

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here has quashed the Home Ministry's decision to suspend two publications of The Edge Communications Sdn Bhd.
On Monday, High Court judge Justice Asmabi Mohamad ordered the three-month suspension against The Edge Financial daily and The Edge Financial weekly to be lifted and ordered the Home Ministry to pay RM15,000 in costs to the publication company.Damages have yet to be assessed and will be fixed at a later date.The Ministry had suspended the publishing permit for three months from July 27.
The financial publication said in a statement that it had received a letter from the Ministry due to its reporting on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
The letter stated that the two publications' reporting of 1MDB were "prejudicial or likely to be prejudicial to public order, security or likely to alarm public opinion or is likely to be prejudicial to public and national interest", according to The Edge.
