SHAH ALAM: A trio of robbers driving a stolen BMW used the vehicle to carjack another luxury car – an Audi TT – along the Kesas Highway here early Saturday.
The 29-year-old man, a pilot, was on the Kesas Highway turning into Kota Kemuning about 4.30am Saturday when he was hit from behind by the BMW, said Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Shafien Mamat.
"Three men in a BMW grazed the Audi TT from the rear," he said, adding that the driver of the Audi then got out of his car to check the damage.
"He was approached by the three men, one of whom was armed with a parang," he said when met at the Shah Alam district police headquarters here Saturday.
ACP Shafien said that one of the suspects drove away in the Audi TT away while the two left in the BMW.
The victim alerted the police via the emergency hotline.
He said that the police immediately alerted all patrol units on the ground in the state, and managed to trace the vehicle in Ampang within minutes.
"With the help from the Ampang police officers, we pursued the two cars and managed to arrest one of the suspects in the Audi at a petrol kiosk in Pandan Indah just half an hour later.
"We are still hunting for the other two men and the BMW, which was reported carjacked in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya earlier the same night," he said, adding that police also recovered the sport car and seized a parang.
ACP Shafien noted that the 18-year-old arrested suspect came from Bukit Beruang in Malacca and had no previous arrest record, while the other suspects were in their early 20s.
