Two people were seriously injured when a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle ploughed into a motorcycle and three cars at a petrol station

TEMERLOH: Two people were seriously injured when a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle ploughed into a motorcycle and three cars at a petrol station on Jalan Temerloh-Mentakab here last night.
Motoryclist Mohamad Kamarul Ikmal Kamarulzaman, 15, and Perodua Kelisa occupant Norjannatunain Idris, 27, suffered multiple injuries to the head, shoulders and legs in the 10.20pm incident.
They were warded at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital here.
It is learnt that the accident occurred when the driver of a Toyota Hilux which was travelling from Mentakab towards Temerloh, lost control of the vehicle as he was approaching a traffic light.
The Hilux was believed to have first rammed into Kamarul, who stopped his motorcycle at the traffic light.
The 4WD then rammed into the Perodua Kelisa, Perodua Kenari and Proton Saga, which were all waiting to refuel at the station.
The impact of the crash knocked down an oil pump.
Norjannatunain, who was with a friend, was in the Perodua Kelisa when the Hilux suddenly crashed into the row of vehicles.
Other motorists and passers-by stopped to help and send the victims to the hospital.
Temerloh police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Anuar Othman said police had detained a 40-year-old man, who was the Hilux driver to facilitate investigations.
He said police would also record statements fom the other affected motorists.
