Businessman escapes death after shots fired at MPV


     
    KUALA KUMPUR: It was a near death experience for a 57-year-old businessman when two men on a motorcycle attempted to kill him by opening fire from a distance.
    In the 1.30pm incident, the "Datuk Seri" the was on the way from Kajang to the city centre when the masked suspects fired several shots before fleeing the scene.
    City police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said the businessman was travelling in a Toyota Vellfire with a bodyguard and his driver near the Loke Yew roundabout when he heard shots being fired at his vehicle.
    "Fearful for his life, the victim drove to the Cheras police station to seek protection.
    "When they arrived and inspected the vehicle, they found bullet holes on the left passenger side window and the sun roof," he said.
    SAC Zainuddin said the victim sustained minor injuries caused by shattered glass.
    Eyewitnesses claimed the suspects fired the shots from an elevated highway nearby before fleeing the scene and heading to Jalan Hang Tuah.
    The case is being investigated as an attempted murder.
