PUTRAJAYA: The Government will spend an additional RM80mil for promotional activities to boost tourism in the country.
The activities are for promotions in Asean region, China and India, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Monday.
The Prime Minister also announced two iconic tourism projects.
Phase one of the integrated development of Desaru Coast Destination Resort will consist of a hotel and theme park and will cost RM4.5bil.
To enhance Muzium Negara, National Monument and Perdana Lake Gardens and to improve connectivity with KL Sentral, the Government will implement a project costing RM1.1bil. This will be through a public-private partnerships from 2016 with a facilitation fund of RM220mil.
Najib also announced visa exemptions for group tourists from China from Oct 1 this year to March 31, 2016.
On another matter he said, an additional RM2bil would be given for the Working Capital Guarantee scheme to SMEs
