KUALA LUMPUR - Former police Special Branch deputy director DCP Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador, who was abruptly transferred to the Prime Minister's Department last month and received a show-cause letter for taking his grievances to the media, has gone on leave barely a day after he reported for duty in his new position.
"Yes, I reported for duty on Wednesday. I was shown the office, its roomy and has good view but there are no staff yet and no task for me. My new boss was unaware of my transfer and was surprised. The PMO has yet to also sort out matters related to my new position with the Public Services Department. This means I am an 'illegal immigrant' here. So, I sacrificed another two weeks of my accumulated leave as I do not want to be doing nothing while getting paid by the taxpayer. I am in the deep jungles of my favourite destination in Jerantut taking a good rest," he told theSun when contacted today.
Abdul Hamid was earlier told to go on two weeks leave prior to reporting for duty at PMO.
He said he received the two-page show cause letter which he will duly reply before the two-week deadline.
He said contents of the letter issued by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had asked him to explain his actions of talking to the media which contravenes the general order of police rules and regulations.
"The IGP very politely asked me to explain. As I said before my IGP is not to be blamed for my forced transfer. He was kind enough to boost my morale. It is Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi . As the Home Minister, he should protect personnel of the police force from victimisation and indiscrimate action of the political masters.
Abdul Hamid was seconded to the PMO as deputy head of a newly-created unit that will undertake issues related to security and transnational crimes.
