Tun M Celebrates 90th Birthday, Malaysians Flood Social Media With Warm Wishes

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s (Tun M) contributions over 22 years at the helm of this nation leaves an indelible impact on the country's development and its people.
Through Facebook, Malaysians took the time to shower greetings on the ex-UMNO president on the auspiscious occasion of his 90th birthday today.
Among those sending him good wishes for his birthday include his activist daughter, Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir, through her Facebook account.
“To my dearest Daddy, Happy 90th birthday! May you always continue to enjoy your robust health, may you always have the strength and courage to do what you think is right, and the time to enjoy the love of your children, grandchildren and your new great-granddaughter.
“May Allah bestow all his blessings on you always. I love you,” she wrote.
Tun M, the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia, was born on July 10, 1925 in Alor Setar, Kedah. He was appointed Prime Minister on July 16 1981 and retired in 2003.
He is the last of 9 nine siblings born to Mohamed Iskandar and Wan Tempawan Wan Hanapi, and entered politics in 1945 when he took part in a campaign against Malayan Union.
Leading the country for 22 years has made him the second longest serving leader in South East Asia after former Indonesian President, Suharto.
