SEMENYIH: The black box of the helicopter, which crashed killing six people including Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis, has been retrieved and is in good condition.
Selangor Police Chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said police located the black box at about 11.30am, Sunday.
"The black box was located in the vicinity of the primary wreckage and looks to be in good condition.
"We have handed it over to the DCA investigation team for further action," he told reporters at the scene.
SDCP Abdul Samah said they also found some personal belongings and pieces of wreckage in the 500m radius of the crash site.
He said police were still combing the area for more evidence.
The helicopter carrying Jamaluddin, the special envoy to the United States; Datuk Seri Azlin Alias, the principal private secretary to the Prime Minister; pilot Capt Clifford Fournier; co-pilot Eidiana Baiziera; businessman Datuk Robert Tan, and Jamaluddin’s bodyguard Mohd Razkan Seran, exploded in mid-air and crashed in Semenyih, just minutes away from its destination on Saturday afternoon.
The charred bodies were found by the Fire and Rescue Department personnel at 8.15pm.
It is believed that all six were killed instantly when the helicopter exploded over a rubber plantation along Jalan Sungai Lallang, Kampung Pasir Baru, during a downpour.
The corporate AS365N2 Dauphin helicopter was owned by IGB Corporation and operated by Cempaka Aviation, which is owned by the pilot.
