KUALA LUMPUR: About 2,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure the security of Asean leaders and delegates who are here for the 26th Asean Summit, which begins on Monday.
Bukit Aman internal Security and Public order department Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Muhammad Fuad Abu Zarim confirmed that all security aspects had been properly coordinated and executed.
“I have personally visited all venues and hotels in Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi to see everything is in place," he said on Saturday.
He also said police operation centres had been set up at all hotels and venues in Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi involved in the summit.
Dry runs had also been conducted to ensure everything would be in place.
"It is not our first time hosting such big event. I am confident that everything will go according to plan," he said.
