Nora Danish in a tiff over Legoland lift mishap


THE management of Legoland Malaysia Resort yesterday apologised to celebrity actress, model and television host Nora Mohd Danish Hanif, better known as Nora Danish, after her family members and a pregnant friend were stuck in the resort’s lift on Sunday for over an hour.
Nora had posted her grouses on her Instagram which has more than a million followers, and has gone viral.
In her Instagram post, Nora claimed that her sister Nadya, her pregnant friend Zarema Zainal, and Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz’s son Nedim’s bodyguard were stuck in the resort’s “disco elevator”.
The hotel’s lift has a unique feature whereupon entering the lifts, a sensory system activates music and strobe lights.
A short-ride, with the lights and music would be entertaining, but stuck in it for an hour, and it may cause one to be claustrophobic.
According to Nora’s posting, her sister who is asthmatic, Zarema who is pregnant and Nedim’s bodyguard, were stuck for half an hour, without any action taken by the hotel’s management.
She went on to say that her sister had pressed the emergency button for 10 minutes before someone responded.
“The rooms were nice but it was the worst experience,” she said.
She claimed the reason for the late response was because the staff were on a break.
Calling the incident stupid, she said the resort operators were unable to override the sensory system that activated the disco elevator, which added to the stress of being stuck in the elevator.
Only a short time after she posted her complaint, Nora received more than 200 comments on her Instagram account.
Legoland Malaysia Resort public relations manager Deviga Doreraja confirmed that the lift did malfunction, and the resort management had offered compensation, which was rejected.
She also said they had apologised to their guests.
In a written statement, the resort said they had apologised to Nora, her friends and family members.
The statement read: “We faced a mechanical issue with one of our lifts last night at the hotel and we wish to once again apologise to the family involved over the incident. We are working closely with the relevant parties to ensure the matter is investigated thoroughly. We are currently in the early stages of the process and will update once we have concluded our findings.
“Our hotel director was on site last night to assist the family once alerted and the safety of all our guests remains a top priority for the resort.”
