Firemen cut ring stuck around penis

KOTA BARU: A 22-year-old labourer suffered intense indignity on Sunday when Fire and Rescue Services personnel had to be called to remove a metal ring stuck around his penis in Kampung Dewan Beta here.
He said three firemen took about two hours to safely cut the ring after they were sought by Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II), where he first sought treatment at about dawn.
"I was only experimenting with the ring by sliding it around my genitals between 3am and 5am. Then, I realised I could not pull the ring out and it got stuck at the base of my penis," he said when met at the hospital.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he suffered a lot of pain when the ring tightened around his penis while he was trying to remove it.
He said he had to ask his father to send him to HRPZ II to get the ring removed as the pain became more unbearable.
"Luckily, the process of cutting the ring was not painful as I had been given anaesthetic by the medical staff," he said.
Meanwhile, district zone chief Senior Superintendent II Jamil Abdullah said the department was alerted about the incident at 7.25am and immediately went to the hospital.
"The firemen took very delicate steps when cutting the ring to avoid from injuring the victim," he said when visiting the labourer at the hospital.
