MH17: Remains of nine more victims expected on Sept 2

PUTRAJAYA: The remains of nine more victims of the MH17 tragedy are expected to be flown back on Sept 2, if all goes as planned.
“The nine include a child and two foreign men who were married to two Malaysians.
“Five of the victims will be placed in coffins while the other four victims’ ashes will be brought back in urns,” Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said Thursday.
He was speaking to reporters after a meeting at the Department of Civil Aviation building here to coordinate the ceremony honouring MH17 victims.
He said the locals would be draped in the Malaysian flag while the two foreigners, whose nationalities were not disclosed, would be draped in flags of their own country.
“It is most likely that the foreigners’ remains would be flown back together with the remains of their spouses.
“We are in the midst of ironing out certain details and at the moment, we believe nine victims will be brought back.
“The number could change, depending on circumstances,” he said, adding that they could only say with certainty the confirmed number of victims being brought back on Sept 1.
Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine, some 50km from the Russian border, on July 17 when it was enroute from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. All 298 people on board were killed.
