PUTRAJAYA: The second batch of remains of victims on board Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH17 are expected to arrive on Sunday, said Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
The Defence Minister said authorities were trying their best to ensure that the remains that were not cleared for departure on Friday would arrive two days later.
“We are making preparations for those who are not listed as part of the 20 victims arriving on Friday.
“We expect the second batch to arrive on Sunday,” he told a joint press conference at the Communication and Multimedia Ministry here on Wednesday.
He added that Sunday would not be declared a national day of mourning.
“The remains of a Dutch national, which was initially reported to be flown back on Friday, will not be transported to Malaysia.
“We will have a meeting and a rehearsal at Kompleks Bunga Raya tomorrow. We expect to finalise all the arrangements by then,” he said.
It was reported that the remains of 28 Malaysians have been identified by authorities in Amsterdam.
